Baby, I’m Back!

s-l300ARGH!!! I’m too old for this! I recently lost YEARS of my work on my I Love Food Diet website/blog due to the fact that I did not re-new my web-hosting. I have no one to blame but myself.

The problem quite frankly is that I am just too freaking old (and too dumb) to have set up my site by myself not knowing what the heck I was doing. Websites, blogs, mapping, hosting, domain, registrar, provider, DNS settings are terminology that I fully didn’t grasp, (and still don’t)  when I started my blog 7 years ago.

I started this site back in 2010 and successfully “managed” it for a few years. I use the term “manage” loosely because all I did was add blog posts and pictures sporadically throughout the years. My account was on auto renew and everything was running along until one day it didn’t.  The auto renew didn’t work because my credit card expired. Bluehost has a policy of giving you a 30 day grace period to renew before they wipe your account off their system forever. I messed up and did not update my card, nor check my site during this time. My account at Bluehost was deleted. Five years of work was wiped clean. Five years of my life was erased. I was so distraught that I gave up writing completely. I couldn’t even bear to talk about it. I have a pit in my stomach even writing this now.  I lost all my subscribers/followers too!  (If you feel like hearing from me again, please scroll to the bottom of my blog and re-subscribe.) Luckily I was able to salvage/save some of my older posts from the early days.

However, as Kelly Clarkson sings “What doesn’t kill you makes you stronger“, I am once again trying to restart my blog. This time, I am going to seek the assistance of a semi-professional (my teenage son), who will show me how to save and back up old posts, update my web host etc, basically all the stuff that is common knowledge to teenagers but Greek to me.

And who better to inspire me than Kelly Clarkson? Having never watched American Idol, I wasn’t aware that she was the show’s first winner back in 2002. I liked some of her songs throughout the years but never really followed her career. It wasn’t until I read how some troll “body shamed” Ms. Clarkson on Twitter that I really took notice. After Kelly tweeted her very kind appreciation for the men and women in military service on July 4th, someone tweeted back to her “You’re fat“. To which Ms, Clarkson replied  “…..and still f–king awesome!”

How cool is she!?? Isn’t that the kind of attitude we need now, especially in these CRAZY times where judging people solely on their race, religion, sexual orientation and physical appearance has somehow inexplicably become …. acceptable???

Isn’t her self-confidence and awesomeness what we need?

I am going to channel my inner Kelly and hope you do too.

“What doesn’t kill you makes you stronger. Stand a little taller…..Stronger, Stronger”

Chow for now!
